God Tests Abraham’s Faith
Genesis 22
Verse 1 – “…God tested Abraham, and said to him, ‘Abraham!’ And he said, ‘Here I am.’”
Verse 2 – The test. God tells Abraham to take his only son, Isaac, to the land of Moriah and offer Isaac as a burnt offering.
Verse 3 – Abraham arose early the next day and prepared to do as God had asked him.
Verses 4-8 – They get to where the Lord sent them. Isaac notices that they have all of the things needed for a sacrifice but they have no lamb. Abraham tells him “My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering.”
Verse 9 – Abraham builds an altar and puts the wood upon it. Then he ties up his son and lays him on the altar.
Verses 10-11 – Abraham reaches out to pick up the knife to kill Isaac. The Angel of the Lord calls from heaven to Abraham. Abraham again answers “Here I am.”
Verse 12 – “And He said, ‘Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.’”
Verses 13-14 – Abraham looks up and sees ram caught by the horns in the thicket. He takes the ram and offers it for a burnt offering. He calls the place “The – Lord – Will – Provide”.
Verses 15-19 – The Angel of the Lord calls to Abraham again. He now repeats again the promises he made to Abraham and vows to keep them – because of Abraham’s willingness to part with his own son to obey God.
(Verse 18 “In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.”)

The purpose of the test:
Genesis 22:12
12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for NOW I KNOW that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.
For some reason I was not able to locate your blog for a long time, and then I accidentally ran across it in my search for other blogs. I am not sure if it is just me or if it truly is difficult to navigate. I can’t seem to find things I thought were posted.
Another irony… it is so much easier to comment here than it was on the other one you had.
I’m not sure what made it hard to find. It wasn’t sending updates to emails either. Every now and then it won’t post to FB and Twitter either. I’m not sure if that’s a WP thing or something my site host needs to fix. It all appears to be working better now. The new template changes a few things, but overall I’ve been able to keep everything. I’m just slowly working on cleaning it up.
