Scripture Writing Plan

Theme: Diligence

Diligence is an idea found throughout scripture.
This one English word is used to convey several different concepts that are closely related to one another.

In Exodus 15:26, it says, “and said, ‘If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, i will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you.'” (NKJV) Here we see diligence used to mean to hear and give attention to something one has learned.

Deuteronomy 4:9 says, ” Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons’ sons;”. (KJV) Diligence is used here to indicate doing something with much force, abundance, exceedingly, or greatly

Then in Deuteronomy 6:7 it says, “You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.” (NKJV) Here diligence is the idea of “to sharpen“, like you would sharpen a knife on a whet stone.

Just these three Old Testament uses give the overall idea of living your life so as to apply God’s word as you understand it, to do so with much force or intention so as to keep yourself sharp and ready for spiritual battle (Eph. 6:10-17; 2 Peter 1:2-11). The New Testament uses convey similar ideas.

Diligence is a character trait all Christians need to cultivate. Diligence is what makes growing in other areas possible (2 Peter 1:5-11). As a Christian woman, walking diligently will help you achieve all that God has designed you to be able to accomplish as a woman, wife, mother, employee, sister, friend, etc.

To get a handle on the topic and to see just how much God encourages it in every aspect of our lives, this Diligence Scripture Writing Plan walks through 31 days of scriptures about Diligence. (There are so many verses, we have TWO additional plans – check them out here and here.)

Scripture Writing allows you to let these concepts to soak in. You focus on one small amount of scripture each day. Meditate on it. Then add a little more information the next day. For an even deeper study, add a little Bible Marking and Cross-referencing into the mix!
