This is Song of Solomon part 2 of the lessons that cover the Song of Solomon in the “To Be a Handmaid of the Lord” study. As I discussed in Song of Solomon part 1, this book is often avoided or mishandled. Keeping it in harmony with all other scripture simplifies the story and highlights the choice this young woman (the Shulamite) must make. My hope is to make a subject that must be handled with modesty and discretion one that is also approachable. God created men and women to enjoy an intimate relationship within the bounds of marriage. We should not be afraid to learn what He shares with us nor to teach others about it.

We should not be afraid to learn what He shares with us nor to teach others about it. The one thing that becomes blatantly obvious when studying this topic in scripture is that God made us to not NEED a lot of instruction on the matter. We instinctively respond to one another. God speaks of these things plainly, but with subtlety and modesty. As people who follow Him, we should do the same.
God hasn’t left a lacking in our education – we need to learn to be content with what we know from scripture and that which we know naturally, without the overcomplications that mankind brings to it all.
I have included a Word document that is the book typed out from the New King James version but without all of the publisher headings. The publisher headings can often mislead us from a truth we would get just by reading the full context. I have only attempted to put breaks as they made sense if spoken.
