Be Strong and of Good Courage
When you read the book of Joshua, “be strong and of good courage” is repeated often. God and Moses both encourage Joshua by reminding him that God is there for him. Throughout scripture, God repeats how we can have courage and confidence because the Almighty is with those who love and obey Him.
Do you ever have a day where you just want to pull the covers back over your head and hide? Have you ever avoided doing something new, just because you were afraid of how it would turn out? Everyone has had these feelings at one time or another. YOU ARE NOT ALONE! But we feel as though we are sometimes. We hesitate because we lack CONFIDENCE and our COURAGE is waning. At this point in our study, it’s good to remind ourselves of how to find that strength and courage that will get us up out of bed, help us to face our fears, and to walk upright – no matter what the rest of the world may be doing. The promises of 2 Timothy 3:17 and 2 Peter 1:3 cover these concerns too, you know!
Take this lesson, open the scriptures, and find your courage. You will find that you do not need a badge of courage to wear, like the Cowardly Lion in “The Wizard of Oz”. Instead, you will find that God’s word on your heart is all the reminder that you need!
